Dear members,
1. I too agree that any curves in code must accompany the corresponding equations, so as to facilitate programming and computations.
2. The working stress format in draft IS800 is nothing but limit sate format with certain modification factors.
3. In America, there are separate codes on Allowable stress design and Limit state design (AISC - LRFD). The AISC - LRFD Code was first publised in 1986 and even after about 17 years, they have retained both the codes. Probably in 2005, they will merge both the codes. Is it because, even in America the transition from ASD to LRFD took around 20 years. Looking into this, should we retain the complete working stress code and come out with a seperate code on limit state method.
We may continue with seperate codes till all other related codes are suitably modified in limit state format.
regards.
