In the above link Er. K.Gangadharan has posted some important aspect on Pumping of concrete for Tall buildings with a quote from S.A.Reddy the ex Joint Managing Director of Gammon India Ltd.

Moderators have to take note of it and need a response from experts.

Raising ready mix concrete to higher levels supplementary discussion
Dear Eng Gangadharan Ji
//www.bussiapp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13130
I agree with concern you raised, which is extremely, significant from engineering view point

  1. All materials can be raised to higher levels with exception of concrete
  2. Concrete causes issues to be contemplated requiring site thought & pre scheme to handle concrete transport issues
  3. Moreover, heavy power pumps are certainly, required to effect transportation
  4. Yet, pump alone would not resolve transport issue
  5. Normally, in general cases, concrete is transported to locations either using mobile pumps or like in old years in 80s, stationary reciprocating pump were used to do so
  6. Up to 100 m heights, higher capacity mobile pumps could be used for concrete placement, duly professionally managed
  7. Higher elevations do not permit such systems due to fact of weight of concrete in pump boom as well as, weight of boom itself
  8. Extra mechanical system may be required to help concrete raised to further heights as you rightly stated
  9. 1400 hp pump was employed on Burge
  10. It was used based on site mock up testing as well as, one standby also, used
  11. Foregoing links explains general requirement in such cases of transporting concrete
  12. No direct route should be designed for concrete movement to avoid stresses in vertical or in boom position
  13. Route requires to be deviated many time allowing passing through many penetrations & bend, so as in case of emergency, intermediate controls can be operated
  14. HPC shall certainly be required in every case, while additional intermediate stations would also, be required for further heights
